Late Night Love Songs with Andy Wheildon

Hi there, I am currently presenting Late Night Love Songs each evening Monday to Thursday 10pm to the midnight hour. This is a show I have hosted since January 2025. I also host Thursday's edition of The Healthy Breakfast show between 8am and 10am.

I was elected onto the Executive Committee here at Radio Royal in 2023 and my current role is Presentation and Programme Manager; I am ultimately responsible for the quality and content of the programs we broadcast.

And now for a bit of a bio. I was born quite a while ago in Birmingham and I have lived in Birmingham, Nottingham, Grimsby, Nottingham, Brighton, Reading and Dunblane.

I decided to delay my choice of career for as long as possible but, whilst in Nottingham for the second time, I graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Trent Polytechnic Eventually I fell upon a career in Banking and Insurance, which is where I remained until retirement.

When not working at Radio Royal I can probably be found walking the family dog or down the allotment (sunny days only). I enjoy engraving and precision woodcutting - I have access to a laser cutter. As a result of being able to cut wood quite accurately I have built a three foot Eiffel Tower and a slightly smaller Notre Dame!

One of my greatest achievements is writing a book called ‘Studying Form’ and having it published (available to buy on Amazon).

When asked to describe myself I decided on observant, pedantic and trustworthy.

My dream interviewee would be Stephen Fry as long as he kept his answers brief.

The Electric Light Orchestra is my favourite band and my favourite song is JUNGLE from te album Out Of The Blue by ELO.
